SUMMARY:SEND Network: Making Maths Accessible for Children with SEND: A Sensory Approach
DESCRIPTION:Stronger Practice Hub Event \nThis practical and engaging session is designed for Early Years practitioners working with children with more complex SEND needs. It explores how sensory stories\, music\, play\, exploration and everyday interactions can be used to build the foundations of early mathematical understanding in accessible and meaningful ways. \nThrough real-life examples and inclusive strategies\, practitioners will discover how to support children to develop skills such as noticing patterns\, making comparisons\, understanding sequence\, exploring quantity and solving simple problems through experiences that are motivating\, child-led and appropriate to their stage of development. The session focuses on adapting provision to ensure all children can access and engage with early maths learning\, regardless of their level of need. \nParticipants will leave with practical ideas that can be implemented immediately within continuous provision\, adult-led activities and daily routines to help children with complex SEND make progress through play\, curiosity and exploration.\n\n    This training is for early years practitioners and leaders working in settings or childminders in our Stronger Practice Hub area (Bristol\, Bath and North East Somerset\, Somerset\, North Somerset\, Gloucestershire\, South Gloucestershire). We will also prioritise settings and childminders in areas of deprivation. \n \nView Tickets \n\nOur SEND Network offers a series of informal\, online networking sessions designed for early years practitioners to come together\, share experiences\, and explore key topics related to SEND in early years settings. Each session focuses on a different aspect of practice\, providing some specialist input and a space for discussion\, reflection\, and peer support.
