SUMMARY:Tuning in to Babies
DESCRIPTION:Stronger Practice Hub Event \nThese sessions will explore educators’ role in tuning in to babies\, reflecting upon listening to their voice\, supporting co-regulation and tuning in during the settling period. We will consider the key person’s role in deeply tuning in to babies’ identities\, making links with babies’ experiences outside of the setting. The sessions will explore the barriers to tuning in to babies’ parents and carers. The sessions will support educators in building a toolbox of strategies to tune in to babies\, such as serve and return\, schemas\, and sensory development. Finally\, the sessions will reflect upon how babies learn\, how they plan for their unique children\, and the role of the enabling environment. These sessions work best when educators have already attended Getting it Right for Babies and Talking with Babies but it can be done as a standalone. \nPlease note: This is a two-part event on Tuesday\, July 15th\, 2025\, and Tuesday\, July 29th\, 2025\, from 6:15 pm to 8:15 pm. Attendees are required to attend both events.  \n\n This training is for early years practitioners and leaders working in settings or childminders in our Stronger Practice Hub area (Bristol\, Bath and North East Somerset\, Swindon\, Wiltshire\, Somerset\, North Somerset\, Gloucestershire\, South Gloucestershire). SUMMARY:Quality Interactions for Early Years Childminders and Settings
DESCRIPTION:Stronger Practice Hub Event \nThis session will explore the basics of effective\, authentic\, meaningful interactions with children in the early years. We will cover what makes for quality interactions: the way we use our body and voice\, how we listen\, pause\, and reflect on children’s learning with them\, how we can deepen their thinking\, provoke new learning\, and delight in the children’s fascinations. We will use the quality interaction checklist to learn more about how to develop good practice\, as well as guidance from the EEF Evidence Store. \nThe session will involve a 30-minute networking/discussion session\, during which participants are encouraged to discuss their learning\, what they have put into practice\, successes\, and challenges as we build this learning community. \nPart of this event may be recorded. We will also prioritise settings and childminders in areas of deprivation.

SUMMARY:Talking With Babies
DESCRIPTION:Stronger Practice Hub Event \nThis session will explore how we can talk with babies to help them become confident communicators and develop respectful relationships that enable them to make genuine choices. SUMMARY:Somerset Baby Practitioner Network Meeting - May 2025
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our second Baby Practitioner Network\, which is open to anyone working with babies (e.g.\, nurseries\, childminders\, PVI settings) in Somerset. We had a fantastic launch session in March 2025\, with many baby room educators and childminders attending. We hope to see you again for our May network meeting. \nBaby Practitioner Networks provide a lively and dynamic opportunity for professional conversations around the needs of our youngest learners. \nEach meeting involves an opportunity for discussion\, sharing celebrations\, problem-solving as a group\, and sharing recent research and articles. \nDuring this network\, we will reflect on being outdoors with babies and making the most of our outdoor environments. There will also be time to reflect on anything else that is on your mind in the baby room at the moment. \nBefore the network\, you might be interested in exploring the videos on The Froebel Trust about babies and outdoor learning. \nCassie is looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd! \nNote: This Network meeting is for early years practitioners and childminders in Somerset only. If you are from another area\, please get in touch with the SPH to find out what is available.
