Maths Champions is a fully-funded online professional development programme developed by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), with support from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). Designed for PVI settings, maintained nurseries, and school-based nurseries working with three- and four-year-olds, the programme trains a Maths Champion and Deputy Maths Champion in your setting, building staff knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies to support early mathematics.
The evidence speaks for itself: Maths Champions has been proven to boost children’s maths and language attainment by an average of three additional months, and six months for children eligible for the Early Years Pupil Premium. In a sector where every interaction counts, that’s a meaningful difference. And 100% of settings that have taken part reported a beneficial impact on their staff.

The programme is structured to fit around your setting. Two Level 3 practitioners become your Maths Champions, working through online training modules and a structured improvement process, with up to six virtual one-to-one support sessions and access to a dedicated resource bank throughout.
