Bristol is an exciting, creative and diverse city to study in. Our partner schools are all situated in Bristol and offer the opportunity to learn in a rich and culturally diverse environment. This experience will support you in teaching children with English as an Additional Language (EAL), learning about different cultures and beliefs as well as challenging the assumptions and judgements that we might make about groups of people. This holistic approach will hold you in good stead to teach as an ECT and beyond.
We have built up strong partnerships with our schools/settings who we have worked closely with over the last five years. They consist of Nursery, Infant, Primary Schools and Academies.
We are committed to inclusion and take into consideration many factors when organising your school placements including; distance from home to school, access to transport, preferred Key Stage where possible, ethos of individual schools, individual family circumstances, disability and additional learning needs.
“I feel that my placement shaped the teacher I am today. It helped me place high value on equality, diversity and cultural difference and ensure that in my practice all individuals are treated fairly, with dignity and respect.”
“The school I had my first placement in was fantastic, I felt that the support from my mentor was great. She supported me every step of the way, helping me gain more experience in the Early Years. The school was very welcoming and gave me plenty of learning opportunities, I was involved with weekly planning, whole school CPD training and training days. I have gained so much from this placement and I am looking forward taking all my experience gained to my new placement!”
“The placement has been nothing but welcoming, from my first day I really felt part of the team. All of the staff members have played a role in supporting me to settle and ensure that I am getting on ok.”
