Children’s Scrapstore: The Power of Loose Parts (Bristol)

June 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm BST

Free

Stronger Practice Hub Event

This session is for early years practitioners and childminders in Bristol.

Now more than ever young children need to play. They need an environment that’s rich in opportunities for exploration, deep engagement, and communication. This interactive session explores the many benefits of playing with scrap and how it nurtures all areas of development and learning in the EYFS as well as fostering the characteristics of effective learning.

Playing with scrap, both inside and outdoors, provides children with limitless provocations, sparking creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Exploring larger-scale loose parts also provides physically challenging experiences, which support the prime areas of learning.

You will:

  • Explore the possibilities of open-ended resources and loose part play to support the prime areas (PSED, PD, CL) and Characteristics of Effective Learning
  • Consider the adult role and how high-quality interactions can support children’s thinking
  • Take away a bag of scrap to kick start more open ended play opportunities in your own setting

There will be a limit of 20 places per session and no more than two people from the same setting.

If it is sold out, please email sph@beyth.co.uk to be added to the reserve list.

Unfortunately you are NOT able to bring your children along to these sessions. They are for Early Years practitioners and childminders only.
