Stronger Practice Hub Event
Archfield House Nursery is a partner setting of the Bristol & Beyond Stronger Practice Hub. It is a family run private setting that opened in 1986. Archfield received their second outstanding Ofsted rating in April 2023 and the Nursery of the Year award at the 2023 Nursery World Awards. Archfield and its sister nursery Woodland House have around 60-70 staff between them and Archfield has up to 102 children a day who are aged between 6 months and 4 years.
Archfield will share their journey in supporting team members to thrive in their roles, acknowledging the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the current recruitment and retention crisis. They will reflect upon management and leadership structures that support team members to feel valued and motivated. They will also explore the following
• Staff wellbeing
• Putting vision and values into practice
• Reflective practice toolkits
• Supporting team members during outdoor play such as Beach and Forest School
• The differences of supporting teams working with babies & 2-year-olds
• Individual, room and whole setting continual professional development
9:15am – arrival for teas & coffees
9:30am – Introductions
Setting learning walk with a leader (groups of 6)
10:30am – Break
10:45am – Q&A from learning walk
Exploring strategies to maximise the potential of your team
12:15pm – lunch – not provided
1pm – Further exploration of strategies to maximise the potential of your team
2:30pm – reflections and closing thoughts
3pm – finish
This is for current or aspiring Setting or Room Leaders. This is for Early Years practitioners, leaders, and childminders. Places will be limited to a maximum of 2 people per setting.
There will be an opportunity to contribute a case study or piece of action research as a result of the open day, for which your setting will be paid.
This training is being run by the SPH. It is Free for eligible practitioners.

Parking
St. Pauls Children’s Centre: There is no on-site parking but parking is available on the road for £1 an hour for a maximum of 3 hours, or in Cabot Circus which is 5-minute walk from the St. Pauls Children’s Centre.
