Our Role as a Stronger Practice Hub
The Bristol & Beyond Stronger Practice Hub is funded by the Department of Education (DFE).
The early years stronger practice hubs programme was launched in November 2022 as part of the early years education recovery support package. The Education Endowment Foundation and the National Children’s Bureau support the programme.
We aim to support other early years settings in adopting well-evidenced practice improvements to enhance outcomes for children in their local area across the EYFS.
As an early years stronger practice hub, we provide advice, share good practice, develop networks and offer evidence-based professional development for Early Years Educators, as well as Reception Educators, including schools, nurseries and childminders.

The Sensory Side of Behaviour: Rethinking What Children in the Early Years Are Telling Us by Ruth Glover
Ruth Glover, CEO of Springboard Opportunity Group, emphasises understanding behaviour in early years as a form of communication linked to sensory experiences. She advocates for a sensory-informed approach to better interpret children’s needs, proposing strategies to create supportive environments. By viewing behaviours as signals rather than challenges, educators can enhance inclusion and self-regulation, ultimately aiding children’s learning and development.
