Stronger Practice Hub Event
Introducing SCERTS: Supporting Social Communication in the Early Years is a clear and accessible course for early years practitioners working with children who have autism or social communication difficulties. SCERTS stands for Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support — and this session introduces the framework, its development, and its application in early years practice. With practical, play-based examples, the course shows how SCERTS can support children’s interactions, emotional well-being, and relationships. Practitioners will leave with a solid understanding of the approach and feel confident and excited to begin using it in their own settings.
Learning aims:
This training is for early years practitioners and leaders working in settings or childminders in our Stronger Practice Hub area (Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire, Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire). We will also prioritise settings and childminders in areas of deprivation.
Our SEND Network offers a series of informal, online networking sessions designed for early years practitioners to come together, share experiences, and explore key topics related to SEND in early years settings. Each session focuses on a different aspect of practice, providing some specialist input and a space for discussion, reflection, and peer support. This SEND Network session will be facilitated by Springboard Opportunity Group, our SPH Partner’s who run several Special Schools in North Somerset.
