Makaton Workshop for Childminders

Stronger Practice Hub Event

The ‘Introduction to Makaton’ taster session is a 2-hour workshop designed for complete beginners or those with previous training who would benefit from a refresher.

You will learn what Makaton is, how to use it and who with, you will learn approximately. 50 signs and symbols relevant to your role as a Childminder with the focus being on Early Years Vocabulary alongside core, functional vocabulary.

The workshop comes with an emailed participant booklet for use during the session and an emailed Certificate of Attendance on completion.

Ali Pennington has over 25 years’ of experience supporting children with a wide range of communication needs. Ali is an established Makaton Tutor across the South-West, supporting and training many educational establishments, organisations, charities, and businesses nationwide.

This session has been organised by the SPH Childminding Network and is only available for childminders in Wiltshire as we have identified a need. Please do not make a booking if you are outside of Wiltshire. There are 15 places available. Therefore booking does not guarantee a place. Places will be confirmed two weeks before the event.

Parking
St. Pauls Children’s Centre: There is no on-site parking but parking is available on the road for £1 an hour for a maximum of 3 hours, or in Cabot Circus which is 5-minute walk from the St. Pauls Children’s Centre.
