Boosting Learning through Movement (Birth-4s) with Guest Trainer Helen Battelley (PD Session 3)

March 22 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am GMT

Free

Stronger Practice Hub Event

The session will explore movement from birth including the role of primitive and postural reflexes. Babies have an innate sense to explore the world around them. Delegates will learn how to create an enabling environment and offer developmentally appropriate activities to support physical development.

Helen Battelley is an internationally renowned consultant, trainer, author and speaker in Physical activity/movement in Early and Primary Education with an MA in Early Childhood Physical Activity. The movement philosophy Helen promotes is to embed movement within the curriculum and framework to enable a movement philosophy. Young children learn through movement, early years practice must adopt an approach which is accessible to all.

Helen’s sessions are primarily aimed at increasing practitioners confidence, motivation and basic movement skills, enabling them to create their own movement activities to support learning- building on these core principles to become part of their everyday planning. Staff have found the courses to ‘reignite a spark’ within them to become more physically active in their own lives.

This training is for early years practitioners and leaders working in settings or childminders in our Stronger Practice Hub area (Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire, Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire). We will also prioritise settings and childminders in areas of deprivation.
