Come along to the wonderful (sometimes sunny!) Severn Beach to find out all about Beach School experiences. Woodland House Nursery (Clifton, Bristol) have been running Beach School sessions with their Pre-School children since 2012. They won the Nursery World Award for Enabling Environments in 2013 where they were praised for their use of the beach environment to support children's wellbeing and development. Bristol Beach Schools was created in 2016 by Woodland House Nursery and Archfield House Nursery to help spread the word about the fantastic learning opportunities that attending regular sessions at the beach can have.

Mona will offer starting points for bringing more musical creativity into the baby room. Then, there will be the chance to work together to develop practical ideas and tips that you can take back to your place of work to make a difference immediately. We know that musical creativity is something that binds babies, children and adults together – it’s part of what makes us who we are. So, finding ways to be more musically creative with babies is part of developing a happier and healthier baby room.

Come and join this interactive Makaton taster session. This fun and informative introduction will explore what Makaton is and who uses it. You will learn more than 30 signs and symbols which you can start to use immediately in your practice. You will receive a copy of all the signs and symbols you have learned and a certificate of attendance.

This session is for Early Years settings of all sizes who would like to improve their understanding of food, in particular vegetables, herbs, spices and fruits. The session is led by Jo Ingleby, the Director of The Children’s Kitchen, a Feeding Bristol project focused on encouraging young children and families to explore, cook and grow fresh produce. The project focuses on the areas of Bristol with the highest levels of food insecurity. Settings working with The Children’s Kitchen are encouraged to move away from traditional baking on cakes and towards child-led food sessions led by curiosity and creativity.

The session will be focused around creativity. Pete will facilitate a deep dive into the topic in order for childminders to gain a deeper understanding of creativity. You will look at children’s creative development and the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning, tying this into the latest research.
