Stronger Practice Hub Event
Thursday 13th May and Thursday 27th May 2027 (4:30-6:30pm) – Attendees are expected to join both sessions
Two-year-olds are curious, capable and increasingly independent, yet they continue to thrive within warm, responsive relationships with the adults around them. Tuning in to two-year-olds explores how they communicate, understanding the emotions that underpin their behaviour, and responding in ways that help them feel safe, understood and supported.
Across the two sessions, we will take a deep dive into the world of two-year-olds – a time of rapid growth, big feelings, and emerging independence. Across both sessions, we’ll explore how to truly ‘tune in ’to two-year-olds through responsive interactions, a nurturing environment, and developmentally appropriate practice.
We will explore how attachment, attunement, observation and everyday interactions help us understand two-year-olds’ unique strengths, interests and needs. We’ll also consider the role of partnerships with families, the Characteristics of Effective Learning, and the Two-Year Progress Check in shaping responsive, inclusive practice. Expect reflection, discussion, and practical strategies to enhance your work with this unique age group.
This training is for early years practitioners and leaders working in settings or childminders in our Stronger Practice Hub area (Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire, Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire). We will also prioritise settings and childminders in areas of deprivation.
