The session focuses on how modelling, guided practice, and supportive adult interactions can help children develop the ability to manage their emotions, behaviour, and attention effectively. You will take strategies away that you can use in practice instantly, embedding self-regulation into your setting from day one.

Calm Starts Here is a practical, evidence-informed network session designed for early years practitioners and leaders who want to lay strong foundations for children’s self-regulation and SEMH development. The session focuses on proactive strategies that strengthen children’s social, emotional and mental health—exploring how warm welcomes, nurturing connections and intentional routines can actively support emotional, cognitive and behavioural regulation from the very start, before difficulties escalate.
